Blockhouse Rebild

The Blokhuset in Rebild: A gem near Rebild Bed & Breakfast

The block house has changed its role from a museum to something new. The props from the former Blokhusmuseum are now part of Museum Rebild.

Rebildselskabet now leases the Blokhusmuseet, which can be reserved for various purposes. The log cabin in Rebild National Park, also known as the Lincoln Log Cabin, is named after the former US president Abraham Lincoln (1861 – 1865).

It is beautifully located at the entrance to the national park and offers an impressive view of the hills and the 4th of July festival site which is located at the bottom of the hills, also called "the cauldron".

Some facts about the former Blokhusmuseum:

The first Block House was built in 1934, and in 1987 it was moved log by log to its current location at the entrance to the national park.

Unfortunately, Blokhuset burned down on 11 November 1993, but a new version was built the following year. The new building was first constructed in the state of Washington from old cedar trees from the same area and was then taken apart and sent to Denmark as an assembly kit. It was completed for the Rebildfest in 1994, exactly 60 years after the inauguration of the first Blokhus. The new Blokhus building is almost identical to the original one.

The original Blokhus is a 5-minute walk away Rebild Bed & Breakfast in white house, and Museum Rebild, is located directly opposite i.e. 2 minutes on foot from here.
